thesis

A ₹1.5-3 lakh employment dispute is a matter where the law is often clear and the facts are knowable, and where the cost of getting started makes pursuing the claim irrational relative to its value. Millions of legitimate claims go unpursued every year, not because they are weak but because the delivery mechanism for legal expertise never scaled. Bench does not replace the lawyer. It replaces the associate, the paralegal, and the ten-hour research-and-drafting cycle, so one experienced lawyer’s judgement reaches thousands of disputes the current system prices out of existence.

what it does

  • Intake & extraction, documents, emails, transcripts into structured facts
  • Statute mapping against live sources, never against frozen training data
  • Contradiction detection, where the counterparty’s own documents disagree
  • Staged drafting: cooperative, firm, formal notice
  • Adversarial simulation of the opposing counsel before anything is sent
  • Escalation scoring, is this still template-solvable, or does it need a human?
  • Citation verification against a live source. The safety-critical agent.

what it does not claim

The regulatory wall is designed around, not ignored. Under the Advocates Act 1961 only an enrolled advocate may appear, plead, or sign in a representational capacity, so every matter crossing from informational into filed terminates at a human lawyer’s desk. Escalation misclassification is the failure that causes real harm, so the escalation agent is biased toward flagging humans in, never filtering them out.
